Diagnostic Procedures for the Ears
Otoscopy : A visual inspection of the ear canal and eardrum using an otoscope.
Audiometry : A hearing test that evaluates a person's hearing threshold and ability to differentiate between sounds.
Tympanometry : Assesses middle ear function by measuring eardrum movement in response to air pressure changes.
Vestibular : Testing being done along with assistance of trained Audiologist in the department Includes tests like :
o Electronystagmography (ENG) or Videonystagmography (VNG) : Evaluates balance by tracking eye movements.
o Caloric Test : Tests inner ear response to temperature changes.
o Dix-Hallpike Maneuver : Diagnoses positional vertigo.
Auditory : Brainstem Response (ABR): Evaluates nerve signals from the ear to the brainstem.
Otoacoustic : Emissions (OAE): Assesses cochlear (inner ear) function.rainstem.
Diagnostic Procedures For The Nose
Rhinoscopy : Examination of the nasal passages using a speculum or endoscope.
Nasal Endoscopy : Provides detailed visualization of the nasal cavity, sinuses, and related structures using a flexible or rigid endoscope.
Diagnostic Procedures For The Throat
Laryngoscopy : Examination of the throat and vocal cords using a mirror (indirect laryngoscopy) or a fiberoptic scope (flexible laryngoscopy).
Videostroboscopy : A detailed analysis of vocal cord vibration using a strobe light.
Pharyngoscopy : Visualizes the pharynx to detect abnormalities like infections or tumors.
Swallowing Studies :
o Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) : Direct visualization of swallowing function.
o Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES) : Direct visualization of swallowing function.
Throat Cultures and Biopsies : Identify infections or malignancies.
